Arrival in Cairo; meet and greet at Cairo International Airport by a Mody Egypt Tours representative. You will be transferred to your hotel with check-in assistance. After an information meeting, you will spend the rest of the day to your leisure. Overnight – no meals included.

Breakfast and pick up for your official introduction to Cairo. Your first day will be inundated in ancient history and starts at the Giza Plateau where your first impression will be the overwhelming sight of the Great Sphinx. You will visit the pyramids of Menkaure, Cheops and Chefren, dating from approx. 2580-2560BC. Your next stop is at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities with artifacts from tombs, temples and palaces throughout Egypt from ancient dynasties. You will have a guided tour but also enough time to wander around. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

Today will start with breakfast and a long drive to Sakha where the Holy Family spent 7 days. The Child Jesus left his footprint in a rock that was carefully hidden out of fear of theft. In 1984 the rock was re-discovered and authorized by Coptic Pope Shenouda III. Several miracles have been attributed to the rock that now is on display in the Church of the Holy Virgin. You drive on to Samanoud, where the Holy Family stayed 17 days. The Virgin Mary helped an old lady baking bread and out of gratitude, she was given a trough to help her kneading dough. It is also one of the sites where the Child Jesus sprung a, still existing, well. You visit the Church of the Holy Virgin and Martyr Abanoub. You will be brought back to Cairo. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

You will follow in the footsteps of the Holy Family to Wadi Natroun (Scetis) in the Western Desert. Documented in the vision of Pope Theophilus, the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus sought refuge and the Virgin Mary blessed the valley out of thanksgiving. The Wadi became a place of uninterrupted prayer and at one point was the location of hundreds of Christian monasteries of which 4 are still in use. You will visit all four: 1. The Syrian Monastery; 2. Anba Bishoy Monastery; 3. St. Macarius Monastery; 4. Our Lady Baramus Monastery. After this spiritual day you will be brought back to Cairo. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

Coptic Cairo is your next destination to the legendary location where baby Moses was born. The area used to be a Roman Fortress and it dissolved into a holy ground with the famed Hanging Church, The St George Church, a Mosque, a convent and the recently renovated Ben Ezra Synagogue. From here you will drive to Mostorod (Al Mahama = Bathing Place) where the Holy Family stayed two times. The place is famed for the bath that the Virgin Mary gave the Child Jesus as well as washing his clothes. On their way back to Palestine, the Child Jesus sprung a well that is still flowing. You visit the Virgin Mary Church and its beautiful crypt before returning to Cairo for a last night in your hotel. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

Breakfast and check-out will get you on your way to the Virgin Mary Church in Maady, location where the Holy Family embarked on a boat to travel south. On March 12, 1976, a Bible washed on the Nile shore below the church. It was opened on the page of Isaiah 19:25: "Blessed be Egypt, my people, and Assyria, the work of my hands and Israel, my Inheritance". This Bible is now on display within the church. You will follow the Holy Family south to Minya. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

Breakfast and check-out and the first stop will bring you to the White Monastery of St Shenouda, at one point home to 2,200 monks and 1,800 nuns. Of course reduced in size, the ruins of the old precinct can still be seen north of the monastery. You continue to Asyut where you visit Gebel (mount) Qussqam and the Al Muharraq Monastery. Here, the Holy Family rested for 6 months in a cave. The stone, used as a resting place for the Child Jesus serves now as the Altar of the Church of Virgin Mary. Your journey continues south towards Dendera to admire one of the best-preserved Ptolomaic temples in Egypt, dedicated to the Goddess Hathor, often depicted as a cow, symbolizing maternity and the celestial. Hathor stood for the ultimate perception of femininity. Special features, not to be missed, are the catacombs and the rooftop with (the copy of) the famous Dendera Zodiac. The Dendera Temple is a famed site for meditation and mindfulness. You will be brought further south to Luxor where you will check-into a hotel. Overnight – breakfast and lunch.

After breakfast and check-out, you will be brought to your Nile Cruiser, home for the next couple of days. In the afternoon you will visit the magnificent Karnak Temple also known as Ipet-Isut "Most Sacred of Places". You will be guided around the fast complex of temples, hypostyle halls, and sacred lakes and decorated walls before driving on to the smaller and more elegant Luxor Temple, build for the rejuvenation of kingship. Overnight – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The day starts with breakfast and a horse carriage tour to the Temple of Horus in Edfu, a beautifully preserved Ptolemaic temple, finalized during the reign of Cleopatra VII. Inside the sanctuary you will find a stunning replica of the bark of Horus, a ship like construction in which the holy statue of Horus was carried around. After another relaxing cruise south, you reach Kom Ombo, home to the symmetrical double Temple of Sobek and Harouris (Horus the Elder). You will be guided and shown the most remarkable features of the structure, like the ancient seasonal calendar and astonishing and recognizable inventory of medicinal equipment. Of course you must also visit the picturesque Crocodile Museum with huge mummified Nile crocodiles, dedicated to Sobek. Back on board, you sail to Aswan. Overnight – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After breakfast, you take a tour around the most important sites of Aswan. You start at the technical and architectural wonder of the High Dam, followed by a visit to the ancient stone quarry where rests the unfinished obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, largest of its kind, if not for a breakage of the stone. You continue with a short boat ride to the famous Philae Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Isis and used through Pharaonic and Ptolemaic eras, Roman times and Christianity. The last hieroglyphic writing can be found here as well as a reminder of the Napoleon Army and an interesting Nilo-meter. Overnight – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Your Mody Egypt Tours representative can help you with excursions. Overnight – breakfast.

After breakfast and check out, you will be brought to Cairo International Airport for your flight back home.
